Building on a brand
I began my time at Kitchens Bedrooms & Bathrooms magazine as features editor and after six months was promoted to editor, aged 28. You could say I didn’t hang around.
Not one to shy away from a challenge, I transformed the well-respected magazine into a multi-platform brand, building audiences across social media and launching thesethreerooms.com in November 2019.
During my tenure as editor, I managed and worked with the team to modernise the design and content of the magazine and website to expand audience reach, creating social media presence to build a digital community and raise the brand’s profile, as well as offering the opportunity for new content types such as Lives and video.
I conceptualised and ran special campaigns to commemorate the brand’s 30th year and 300th issue, and adapted content quickly to suit the fast-changing landscape of publishing and boost in demand for renovations brought on by the pandemic. I managed and created content for digital-first projects to help homeowners create their dream spaces, such as a series of webinars, the Close To Home initiative and a Project Planner microsite, with a bundle of free downloadables for the consumer, which I put together.
By innovating, print readership figures stayed ahead of competitors, new digital channels increased brand awareness and reach and I successfully initiated new content avenues through speaking engagements as part of industry-leading events, newsletters and branded events, and launched and hosted the How To Buy A Kitchen Or Bathroom podcast.
